About Maria Daw, RDN, LDN

Maria's Background
As a child and adult, Maria Daw noticed the correlation between diet, weight, and prescribed medications. It wasn't until she was working at the Cleveland Clinic at the Taussig Cancer Institute that she met her first registered dietitian who was part of the care team. Speaking with this dietitian inspired Maria to return to college to obtain her degree in dietetics and nutrition, beginning her journey so she too could educate and support individuals in achieving improved health and becoming a healthier version of themselves. Maria excelled in all of her studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She later went on to pass her board examination with a higher-than-average score. To date, Maria continues to build her expertise and is committed to educating others while guiding them toward healthier dietary and lifestyle choices.
Maria has been practicing as a registered dietitian nutritionist since 2020, starting in corporate wellness before joining Southern Maryland Dietitian, a private practice where she was able to focus more on research and successfully assist clients in improving their health through better nutrition. Her work helped many clients enjoy their food while reducing—or even eliminating—the need for medications, improving lab values, and feeling healthier and more energetic. She continues to work with Southern Maryland Dietitian, but it has always been her goal to open her own private practice in her home state of Ohio. That dream came to life in 2025 with the launch of Plate 4 Life Dietetics, which provides telehealth services.
Maria’s mission is to provide accessible and reliable information to individuals by sharing her knowledge of their unique health needs and empowering them to make informed decisions about their well-being. Her commitment to staying up to date with research and applying it on an individualized basis reflects her core values and beliefs. She approaches each client’s health through a personalized lens—never a one-size-fits-all model—and takes time to explain all science-based recommendations. Maria believes in a proactive approach to health and performs comprehensive nutritional assessments for each client to identify root causes of health concerns, whether related to stubborn weight loss, metabolic dysfunction, or other challenges. Her ultimate goal is to inspire positive change, one step at a time, for long-term health improvement.
When Maria is not helping others or researching, she enjoys being outdoors—whether hiking, biking, kayaking, walking with her dog and husband, or working in the yard and garden. Growing up tied to her mother’s and grandmother’s apron strings, she learned the art and science of cooking at a young age and is often found in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes.
